I looked at the photo, and anger flared inside me.
He had always known what I'd truly wanted. All those talks of first love and lies were just excuses—he was just selfish.
I shoved his hand away and stared at him. "Cedric, I was blind back then. I forced something that was never meant to be.
"But I've already paid the price for my foolishness. Now it's your turn. I can't save you. Go back."
I didn't look at him again. I simply turned around and got into the car.
Inside, Noah noticed my expression and carefully leaned in closer. He apologized, "I'm sorry. I just wanted to avenge you..."
"He took the woman I'd wanted for 20 years and never valued her. He hurt you so badly and still had the nerve to beg for forgiveness.
"I wanted to kill him, but I didn't. I want him to live every day under the shadow of death and pay for everything he did to you." He was so furious that his fists clenched until his knuckles cracked.
