Chapter 9
A single tear escaped my eyes and landed on Cedric's cheek.
That was when he remembered everything! He remembered the tear he'd shed for me before, and all the pain I carried for him now. He knew everything.
Regret washed over him, but I had come just in time.
Cedric lifted a hand, trying to brush my tears away, but his body wouldn't cooperate.
"Don't cry. I trusted the wrong people and made you suffer. It's my fault. We missed each other twice… I just hope you won't hate me."
I wiped his tear away. "Cedric, I don't hate you, but I won't forgive you either. I just hope we never meet again in the next life."
"Okay," he softly said, a faint, sad smile appearing on his lips.
Then, a single tear ran down his cheek as his hand fell to the bed.
The machine blared, its beeping cutting through the silence of the room.
Richard came rushing in crying, while doctors and nurses quickly gathered around us.
I felt like I was frozen in time, watching it all happen from a distance.
