Jeffery recognized the scarf as my handiwork, because I always stitched a star in the bottom-right corner of everything I knit, with one point done in red thread. He never bothered to wear anything I knitted, yet that little star had left such a mark on him that when he saw Clay's post, it sparked a sense of familiarity.
