I blinked at Hudson's intense gaze. "What do you mean?"
"If I hadn't been here, do you have any idea how dangerous this could've gotten?" His voice was dangerously low, controlled in a way that made Akira flatten her ears in my mind.
"I..." I hesitated, feeling suddenly small despite my earlier confidence.
He wasn't yelling. That somehow made it worse.
"I didn't know it would turn into this. I heard Miss Davis's voice note asking me to dinner. I wasn't going to ignore it."
