Chapter 4

"Jas, I… I just feel a bit wronged. Did I do something wrong?" Lynette questioned. "How could you remove me from my position without saying a thing?" Jasmine only felt disgusted at the sight of Lynette's pitiful look. "Do I have to explain myself when I promote or fire somebody?" she retorted. Lynette's eyes instantly turned red when she heard that. "Jas, is there a misunderstanding between us? Is it because of Tim and Matt? Are you mad at me because I've received their attention and love instead?" As she said that, she took off her necklace and bracelet. Then, she held them nervously and handed them to Jasmine. "I'm sorry, Jas. Tim gave me these. "I'm returning them to you. Don't be mad at me, okay? Oh, there's also…" She took out a crystal award from her bag and got down on her knees in front of Jasmine. "This is Matt's Best Actor award. I heard he promised to give it to you. I'm giving this back to you, too! Jas, please. Don't make things difficult for me," she pleaded. Lynette wept in sorrow as she expressed her grievance, catching the attention of all the staff. Jasmine couldn't be bothered to talk to Lynette. She wanted to go around her and leave, but Lynette pulled the bottom of her pants. In an instant, the jewelry and trophy she was holding fell to the ground. The bracelet and crystal trophy shattered into pieces. Lynette seized the chance and threw herself on the shards. The broken pieces cut through her delicate skin, blood dripping down from the wound. "Ahh! Jas, why are you taking it out on me again over personal matters? I've already compromised, so why can't you just go easy on me?" Lynette questioned. Right at that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Lynette was crying. Her voice echoed through the place. Timothy and Matthew walked out of the elevator and happened to witness everything. "Lyn, are you okay?" The two were shocked, and they swiftly rushed forward to help Lynette up. Their hearts ached when they saw the terrifying cuts on Lynette's body. Matthew immediately took out his phone and called the ambulance. With a grim expression, Timothy stared at the mess on the floor before he looked up and shot Jasmine a cold look. "Jasmine, there's a limit to my patience. When I saw the email you sent to Lyn this morning, I thought you were targeting her. "Now that I look at this, I was right. You just can't accept her, huh? I didn't know you're this petty!" Jasmine's eyes widened in disbelief at Timothy's accusation. Did he say she was targeting Lynette and was petty? He should have seen how much damage Lynette had done to Ascend Entertainment. "For me, business is business. I don't let emotions get in the way. "Lynette is just out of her depth. I can never let her fool around with my assets." Jasmine's voice was icy. "I didn't hold Lynette accountable for her doings and merely removed her from her role. I've been kind enough," she added. Matthew ended the call and suddenly raised his voice. "You even damaged those things we gifted Lyn on purpose. You're jealous, aren't you?" He pointed at the shards stained with blood on the floor. "I want you to pay for the bracelet and the award. Then, you should apologize to Lyn!" Jasmine was so furious that she felt like laughing. Pointing at the surveillance camera above her, she scoffed. "Mr. Jackman, would you like to look at surveillance footage before you speak? I didn't even touch your precious Lyn. "She smashed those things herself, and she injured herself deliberately. The camera captured everything clearly!" Right then, Matthew gripped Jasmine by the neck forcibly. "Do you think I'm stupid? Jasmine Lane, this is the Lane Group. If you really wanted to frame Lyn, it wouldn't be difficult to tamper with the surveillance footage. You're so vicious!" He kept tightening his grip. Jasmine's face was flushed red as she struggled to break free from him. Just when she was on the verge of passing out, Matthew released his grip and casually tossed her on the broken pieces. Jasmine shrieked in pain. The staff wanted to help her up, but Matthew's bodyguards stopped them. "I want you to experience the same level of pain Lyn has suffered in return!" Matthew roared. … The moment the ambulance arrived, Matthew carried Lynette in his arms and rushed downstairs with Timothy. The two didn't even spare Jasmine a glance. Lying on the shards, she felt an excruciating pain with every move she made. Charles carefully helped her up. "Ms. Lane, I'll take you to the hospital." Jasmine glanced at the cut on Charles' palm. "It's fine. Take care of your wound. I'm going back." While her staff stared at her with their pained and concerned looks, she forced herself up and left. Then, she returned to the villa in a disheveled state. After Jasmine treated her wound, Timothy and Matthew came back. Seeing the thick bandage around Jasmine's arm, Timothy pursed his lips, seemingly wanting to say something. Just then, Jasmine's phone rang. It was a call from Natalie. "Hello, Mom…" The moment Jasmine heard her mother's voice, she was overtaken by emotions and choked up. Natalie sensed something amiss and quickly asked Jasmine about it. After gathering herself again, Jasmine avoided Natalie's question and changed the topic. "I'm okay, Mom. I'm taking the flight tomorrow afternoon. Just tell him to pick me up from the airport." Upon hearing that, Timothy and Matthew exchanged glances and frowned. "Are you leaving? Are you going back to Jenvil?"
