**Thelma Zane’s POV:**
Why did I feel like I was being tricked at every turn today?
"I'm not lying to you," Dorothy insisted, trying to stifle her laughter. "But it's not as serious as you think. No one is going to openly compete for your attention or cause you any social embarrassment. The ancient minions may have acted that way, but we're far removed from those times. Back then, followers didn’t have independent thought. We’re different."
She continued, "That's why my emotional connection with you isn't suffocating. I might feel close to you, admire you, and want to be around you, but it's not to the extent of jealousy. Don’t make that face, unless you want your life to turn into a soap opera."
I rolled my eyes and chose not to respond to her teasing.
"Careful, Your Highness," she teased. "A goddess wouldn’t make such an undignified expression."
"You don’t seem close to me, admire me, or even like me," I countered. "Is this how a priestess should treat her goddess?"
