Chapter 304: A Reckoning with the Past
**Thelma Zane’s POV**
The moment I returned to the bedroom, I was swiftly scooped up by Aldrich and carried to the bed like a playful thief taking his prize. His mischievousness brought a reluctant smile to my face, but I quickly composed myself and spoke sternly.
“Aldrich,” I said, cutting through his antics, “will you accompany me to meet some people tomorrow morning?”
He paused, his playful demeanor giving way to curiosity. “Who?” he asked, pulling me closer as he leaned back on the headboard.
“My adoptive parents and brother,” I began, hesitating for a moment before adding, “and the person for whom I once sought death.”
Aldrich stilled, his hand halting mid-motion as he combed through my hair. The room grew heavy with silence.
Sensing his unease, I quickly clarified, “It’s nothing like you’re imagining. He’s a relic of the past, Aldrich. I hold no feelings for him now. Tomorrow’s meeting is solely to make him atone for the wrongs he’s done to me.”
