Chapter 351: The Burning Rock
**Thelma Zane’s POV**
I had known that my decision would provoke anger, but at that moment, it had felt like the only choice.
“This was the only option at the time,” I explained, my voice steady but laced with exhaustion. “If I hadn’t acted, the child and I would have been lost. You know as well as I do that New Flow can heal all physical injuries. I’m just in a bit of pain now; it won’t be life-threatening.”
Aldrich’s expression darkened, his usual calm demeanor giving way to a rare display of fury. “This is reckless—beyond reckless!” he exclaimed. His anger seemed to falter into something more vulnerable as he added, “Do you know what it felt like to hear you screaming? My legs gave out beneath me. I kept seeing the worst possible outcome in my mind, over and over.”
I felt a pang of guilt but held my ground. “I’m sorry. Next time, I’ll discuss it with you first.” My voice softened, seeking to soothe his worry. “But let’s focus on the present. What’s the situation now?”
