Chapter 420: The Poisonous Wine
**Jordin Charlies’ POV**
“Perhaps it’s not as dire as it seems,” I offered, trying to bring a sense of calm to the escalating tension in the room. General Aldrich, however, looked far from convinced. “We need to trust Thelma’s instincts. When it comes to strategy, few can rival her. In terms of strength, the elves don’t pose an immediate threat to her, especially not with the defenses of New Flow. Even the Elf King, powerful as he might be, is no longer in a position to act directly. Thelma’s efforts to help the elven people should earn her some goodwill. Unless the Crown Prince desires to be seen as a despot among his own people, he wouldn’t act recklessly. A show of strength often masks an underlying vulnerability.”
Despite my reasoning, Aldrich remained unconvinced. His usual composure seemed to dissolve whenever Thelma’s safety was in question. His concern, though understandable, teetered on the edge of irrationality.
