Even after all this time, his grief had not lessened—it had simply settled into his soul, buried beneath layers of time and silence. “This was among Layla’s belongings,” he finally spoke, his voice quiet yet firm. “She was a rule-abiding woman, always cautious and measured. Even with me, she never spoke too much about her work, and I never pried.” He took a deep breath, exhaling slowly as if steadying himself for what he was about to say next. “But there’s one thing I am absolutely certain of,” he continued, his tone shifting, becoming sharper, laced with bitterness. “The Evaria Family was involved in Layla’s death.” His hands clenched into fists as he
