Chapter Fourteen

Since I was not working Sunday morning, I took a power nap before showering and heading over to see Kody.

I wanted to talk to him about the whole 'having his friends chauffeur me' thing. It wasn't that I wasn't grateful. I was. It just put me in an awkward spot and I didn't think I could handle it for much longer.

I got to his house at around three o'clock. I was actually dressed super casually with a hockey jersey and black tights. It was nearing the end of October and the sun just wasn't coming out anymore.

When I knocked on his door I wasn't exactly surprised to see the girl pull it open. I was surprised by the twist in my stomach that signaled jealousy.

Who the hell did I think I was?

Just because I was carrying Kody's child didn't make me his girlfriend. Hell, I didn't even want to be his girlfriend.

And yet here I was glaring at some innocent girl because she answered his door in nothing but a big T-shirt and tube socks.

"Sorry." She said in a voice that was muffled with sleep. "I didn't hear the door."

I shrugged my shoulders attempting to be casual. I'd be damned if Kody was going to make a jealous fool of me.

"No problem." I said probably just a bit to chirpy. "Can I speak to Kody real quick?"

Play it cool, Lewis.

She tilted her head to the side causing her long hair to fall over her shoulder. Damn it, the girl was beautiful.

Kody was such an asshole.

"You look super familiar." The girl said narrowing her eyes.

I scoffed. I was for sure I had never seen this girl in my life. I was even pretty certain she didn't go to Winterbrooke U because if she had, Stella would have forced her into joining the sorority a long time ago.

"I get that a lot." I lied shifting from foot to foot. Was she going to let me in? How embarrassing would it be if she just slammed the door in my face?

I chuckled to myself.

She blushed, "Oh sorry, come in. Kody's in the shower. And just a warning, he's in a mood."

When she mouthed the word 'hangover' I smiled.

Karma, you crazy bitch- you always have my back.

I walked up to the room door, banging my fist against it. "Kody Vincent! I want to talk to you."

The girl behind me chuckled and I realized we hadn't even introduced ourselves. Well... that was probably for the better.

There was a groan from the other side of the door and then Kody stood in front of me, his blond hair was wet and plastered against his face. His expression was murderous.

I didn't care though, because he was only wearing a towel around his waist.

My oh my.....

His body was wet and muscular in all the right places. I let my eyes trail down- rookie mistake- and basically counted every pec of his eight pack. I knew Kody kept up with his shape. He was a runner so he didn't really have a choice. I even knew how he looked naked- stupid hormones- but seeing him fresh out the shower made me want to run my tongue over every inch of his body.

Someone cleared their throat.

"Should I leave?"

Like a bucket of ice water being poured over me, her voice brought me out of my trance.

Kody was smirking down at me, his bottom lip pulled between his teeth. "Should she, Lewis?"

I narrowed my eyes, barely resisting the urge to slap him, only because it would be so typical.

Instead I pursed my lips. "If she feels like it. I'm just going to toss a couple of cuss words at you, and then I'll be on my way as well."

The girl scoffed. "Yeah, on your way to boom boom town."

Kody frowned, his expression turning into one of disgust. "Don't say shit like that in my house Rory." He groaned.

I would have found it amusing if I wasn't almost certain I was reading the situation wrong. Who the hell was this girl?

Didn't matter.

The girl sauntered into the kitchen pulling a bowl out of the cupboard and filling it with cereal.

Kody groaned. "Rory, Lewis- Lewis, Rory."

I sent her a smile, because she was nice and I had no reason to dislike her.

"It's Ezra." I corrected.

Rory froze, her hand tightening on the jug of milk she was holding.

She sent Kody a confused expression and he smirked.

"Yep, that's Babymomma."

I hit him. It was a mistake. When my skin came into contact with his, all of my blood rushed to wherever the hell it needed to go to make me want to have sex with him.

Right this second.

I quickly pulled my hand back. "What the hell, Kody? We're telling people?"

He shrugged turning on his heel and pulling a pair of sweats off of his bed. "She's my sister, she was going to find out eventually."

Rory pursed her lips. "Huh, I was for sure he was lying." She mumbled sounding as if she was talking to herself.

"Sister?" I deadpanned as I studied her while Kody got dressed. They didn't look anything alike. Even their hair color was two different blondes. Rory's was a strawberry blond and Kody's was almost white.

Kody returned, still shirtless with a pair of Nike sweats riding low on his hip. "I'm surprised King didn't tell you. You guys are so buddy buddy." He said dryly.

I rolled my eyes.

"Oh, you know Matty? I definitely have to see Matty before I go back."

Oh... She was the Matty girl.

Kody shook his head. "You're going back right now. You're not going to have time to see anybody."

She shook her head. "No. I don't think I will."

I was glad the conversation was drifting away from me being pregnant.

"If you're not on a plane by ten tonight, I'm going to call dad up to come deal with you." Kody threatened.

Rory's eyes narrowed. "Then I'll tell him you knocked someone up." She quickly turned her head to me. "Sorry, Ezra. All is fair in Sibling war. "

I felt my heart clench. Seeing them argue made me want a sibling that I could argue with. That would have my back no matter what. That I could visit when life was getting too rough.

"How long do you plan on staying here?" Kody asked. "Hiding from Westbrook and eating all of my food. "

She shrugged spooning some more cereal into her mouth. "I hate Houston so much Kody. I'm going to finish out the semester but after that I'm done. I just need a small break."

Kody ran a hand through his hair. "So why don't you go stay with Sin?" He sounded frustrated.

She widened her eyes. "I can't. He can't know I'm here. He just visited me on family day. He's going to think I followed him back out here like some sort of stalker or something."

Kody looked confused. "He's your boyfriend Rors I can't-" he cut himself off. "Whatever. And you-" he pointed to me. "You were going to yell at me for something?"

Oh yeah.

"Your friends." I blurted out. "They don't need to give me rides from work. It's nice but it makes me feel really awkward-"

"Not as awkward as getting kidnapped or murdered." Kody cut me off.

I raised a brow. Rory burst into laughter. "Oh this is good." She said turning to us.

"I'll get an Uber." I said.

Kody shook his head. "That's pointless when my guys will take you for free."

His guys. I needed to get to the bottom of his little group of friends and their illegal activities.

"Kody, I feel guilty. " I mumbled feeling myself slowly losing this argument.

"Don't. They don't mind. "

He was just so damn careless about getting his way that it annoyed me. "Fine. I won't." I said simply. It wasn't that big of a deal. If his friends didn't want to give me a ride then they could talk to him. I was done.

With a quiet laugh Rory handed me a bowl. "Captain Crunch?" She asked.
