Chapter Sixteen

I stood between the two guys, my arms crossed, my expression annoyed.

"Seriously, back the hell up guys. You're making a scene. "

Of course they didn't listen.

"If you have a problem Vincent, we can take this outside. " Jamie said, pivoting his body around me.

He was a hot head.

Kody on the other hand was calm and collected. "I asked a question." He said in an even voice.

"I'm good, Vincent." I mumbled, turning my full attention on Jamie now, because he was the only one who wanted this fight.

"Okay," Kody sent Jamie a warning look before he turned on his heel, going back in the direction he came from. Before he disappeared he turned his attention to me, smiling. "I guess I'll see you tonight Lewis."

When he was gone Jamie shook out of my grasp. "What the hell was that. You hang out with him?"

Jamie was my best friend. I actually met Macy- my second best friend- through Jamie. So it only made sense that if my second best friend knew my biggest secret, then my best friend should know it too.

"Ugh, we gotta talk."

Jamie was like a brother. And if Kody could tell his sister, then I could tell my brother.

We left the mall, I wanted to get a few drinks in Jamie first, so we went to his younger brother's house.

Alan was a freshman. He shared a bachelor pad with his best friend Brett and Jamie and I secretly suspected that they were in love with each other. They were that close.

When Alan opened the door for us, he was dressed in a jacket and tie. "Really, bro. You're bringing your one night stands here now?" He said with a dazzling white smile.

I raised a brow. "Another interview?"

He simply laughed heading into the kitchen and leaving us alone to walk to the bar.

I sat quietly as Jamie poured himself a drink, quickly downing it before pouring another.

"So, what? You're dating Vincent?" He asked in disgust.

Which one was worse, dating someone- or bearing their children?

Asking for a friend.

"No." I said in disgust. "No, it's more complicated than that."

He looked confused. "Should I take another drink?"

I thought about it. "It wouldn't hurt."

"Tell me Ezra. I know you already told Macy."

I felt guilty about that.

I closed my eyes and confessed my sins. "I'm pregnant." I whispered. "It's Kody's"

To my surprise, to my complete shock- he bursted into laughter.

"Are you fucking serious." He asked clutching his stomach and leaning into the bar. "Kody knocked you up?"

"Lower your voice." I hissed.

He continued to laugh. Wiping a tear. It reminded me of when I had told Macy. They were kind of perfect for each other.

"I'm sorry." He said after a while. "It's just... Kody fucking Vincent? Seriously?" He started laughing again, resting his head on his arms.

I took that opportunity to smack him in the back of the neck.

"Thanks for your sympathy."

He shook his head. "I can't believe you even fucked Kody Vincent. You always hated him."

I had always hated Kody. But it was more like I was jealous of him. Things always worked out for him. He was rich with a nice family. He seemed to have it all.

"Yeah well, everybody makes mistakes." I mumbled.

Jamie raised his glass in a mock salute. "Hannah Montana." He mumbled before taking a deep drink.

I stared at him. Normally we would have gotten drunk right here. I would have challenged him to some drinking contest and Macy would have found us passed out in Alan's living room tomorrow.

"So what, you guys are dating now?" Jamie asked, pouring another drink.

I hit him again. "We're not dating. I told you. We're just raising a kid together."

Jamie scoffed. "Yeah okay, I guess you've never seen any Rom-Com ever."

I laughed. "This isn't a movie, it wouldn't be responsible for me to..."

I trailed off.

"But you want to date him?" Jamie asked. He turned into a therapist when he was tipsy. Alcohol gave him too much confidence.

I laughed. "Not date him." It was true. I was done dating. "If I thought we could make it, as a couple, I might think about it. But I'm not interested in relationships, and I doubt Kody is."

Jamie nodded. "So you just want to fuck him again?"

Jamie was crass. It wasn't a secret.

"Irresponsible." I said simply.

Jamie nodded. "Well, it's not like you can get pregnant twice." He put a finger on his chin. "You know what I mean."

I raised a brow. "Are you trying to talk me into fucking Kody Vincent?"

He shrugged. "If you want to fuck Kody Vincent."

"Seriously, you'll fuck Kody Vincent before you fuck me?" Alan said coming out of his room with his phone clutched between his hands. He was texting furiously.

I rolled my eyes. Great.

"I already told you, Alan. My guy has to last more than a minute. " I joked.

Brett entered the room next, also texting on his phone. "How about me, I'm up to a minute and a half, but if we drag the foreplay out, you don't even really notice-"

"Hard pass." I said, cutting him off. He was also dressed in a jacket and tie. He looked like Clark Kent with his blonde hair gelled back and a pair of black glasses covering his face.

Jamie chuckled, sipping on his third drink.

"Hey, seriously. Be careful with Kody Vincent." Alan said, distractedly.

I leaned back in my chair. "Why is that."

Alan actually looked serious, which was about as rare as a shooting star, so I paid attention to what he said.

"He's into some dangerous shit."

Jamie scoffed. "You don't know Kody Vincent."

Alan shrugged. "You remember Matty? He works for Kody. He won't tell me what they're into but I know it's dangerous. He keeps saying he's going to quit but I don't think Kody will let him."

I raised a brow. Alan knew King? They were friends? I couldn't see it.

Jamie rose from the bar. "I have to piss. Don't listen to anything he says, Ez. He's full of shit."

Normally, Alan was full of shit, but he looked serious. And his story checked out.

"What else do you know?" I asked when Jamie was out of the room.

"Nothing else." Brett answered grabbing Alan by the arm and leading him to the front door. "And if you're not going to fuck either of us, we'll be going. Make sure Jamie locks up."

They exited swiftly.

I was left alone to ponder over the information I had learned.
