Archer I rubbed my eyes, yawning as I stretched my arms—only to hit someone solid. Claude. My drowsiness vanished instantly. My gaze sharpened as I looked at him, brows knitting together. “Why am I on your back?” He didn’t answer. Instead, he moved swiftly, opening the large cabinet hidden behind the clothes and setting me inside. “Claude?” My voice wavered as confusion crept in. “What’s wrong?” He looked different. Too serious. It was the same expression he used the first time we met and also when he had killed the one who went to our cell who had come to stop me from crying. The air around him felt heavy—dangerously still. Without thinking, I lowered my voice. “What’s wrong?” I whispered, my heartbeat tightening in my chest. “What’s happening?” He pressed his finger on my fingers to hush me. “No matter what you hear, don't come out here. You get me?” Fear and panic flashed in my eyes. “What's going on?” “He had been knocking on our room, trying to get in,” he whispered and explained.
