Scarlett The air was still thick with morning dew when I slipped away from the mansion the moment the sun set. The world was quiet, only the chirping sounds of the bird and the rustle of the leaves while I was running away, and for one, I’m loving it. I felt free. I could finally breathe properly. The lump in my throat had disappeared. The cool breeze hit my face, but this made me even more motivated to run away. Green leaves and grass all over the place. Droplets of water that the rain leaves on the leaves. I’ve been shackled by my thoughts. I’ve been a prisoner of my own emotions. And an overthinker of my future. I want to breathe. I want to be alone. Not with constantly trying to guess what’s on Lucien’s mind. Not with constantly dealing with Alexander. Not with Kathleen who keeps on feeding my delusions. My body longs for space. My soul needed silence. So, I ran. I shed my shoes and let my bare feet pound the forest floor, weaving through the towering trees of the Nightshade territ
