1 Cemetery

Karen stood in front of the open graves where the coffin had been put inside the grave. She was dressed in a long black gown and was holding a black umbrella since it was a raining day. Her hair was tied into a ponytail and she was wearing a black eyeglass to avoid too many questions from her relatives. It was her father’s burial today and her mother didn’t attend. Since after the divorce of her parents, her mother had stopped visiting them. She was the only child of her parents and throughout her childhood she wasn’t given the love she asked for. She stretched her neck forward to look at the coffin which was opened. Her eyes was welling up with tears and she was visibly shaking. Her aunts, uncles and other of her relatives were present for the burial except for her mother. The priest stood with the bible in his hand and the holy cross. He opened the Bible and read through it while he prayed for the corpse. Once the priest had prayed for her father’s corpse to rest in peace, the coffin was finally laid inside the graves. Karen shook her head sadly as she watched the men put the coffin down. She felt a panging headache in her head and she raised her hand to rub her forehead. Each of the men took the shovel which was on the ground and they pushed the soil inside the grave to cover the coffin. Once the grave was covered, Karen turned around to leave as she could not hold herself anymore. She didn’t want to cry in front of everyone. She had been crying too much lately. Her father once used to be the butler of her mother’s family. He worked there since her mother, Susan was young. As time went on, the both of them fell in love. She could not make her relationship out in public because her family would never approve of them. The secret relationship between the Mistress and butler continued for some time until they were caught by Susan’s father. He turned furious upon seeing them in a deep kiss. He fired the butler instantly and sent him home. Susan continued to see him secretly and one day she made it known to her family that she was in love with the butler. Her father disowned her instantly but she didn’t mind. She left the Mansion to start life with the love of her life. It was only after she birthed Karen did her feelings started to fade off from her husband. Not looking where she was going to, Karen crossed the road to the other side. All of a sudden, a vehicle coming from the other side bumped into her and she fell down unconscious. The man who had crashed on her, stepped down from the car. It was his driver who had hit onto her. With mouth wide agape, he quickly lifted her from the ground and placed her at the back seat of the car. Noah checked her pulse to see she was not dead. But her pulse we very weak and he was afraid she might bleed to death. “Hurry up!” He ordered the driver. When they arrived at the hospital, he pushed the door opened without waiting for his driver and carried the girl in his arms inside the hospital. The nurses didn’t need to be told twice before taking Karen to the VVIP room. More nurses and doctors rushed in to take care of the wound. While they were attending to her wound, Noah left the hospital to his house. He pushed the door opened and as he stepped into his room he met someone there. His brother was standing at the corner of his room with his back leaning against the wall. A glass of wine was in his hand as he took sip from it. Noah’s brows furrowed deep as he stared at his brother, Travis. “What are you doing here?” he asked. “I see you have been busy spending time with the girl. Karen is it her name?” Travis grinned. “Do not come near her, Travis. There is nothing going on between us. She is not Olivia.” Noah said sternly. Travis did not respond but instead continued to gulp down the wine in his hand. Noah took a step forward. “What are you doing here?” “I came home.” Travis replied with a broad smile. “Tell me brother when was the last time you visited the basement? With my daily reports, you haven’t been there for a while now.” Noah scoffed. “I know what you are trying to do, Travis. I am not interested with any of your talk. When you are done drinking then leave.” He went inside his closest to change into something casual. A black polo shirt and black shorts. He opened the door and was about to leave the room when his brother pulled him back. “Where is that ruthless guy in you who promised to revenge our parents death? Did the disappearance of Olivia changed you?” Travis asked. “Stop it! I am no longer interested in your little games. It won’t work on me.” Noah warned and was about to leave when Travis shoved him against the wall. “I have an army of the best assassin in this world. I have good weapons.” Travis said. “We could search the city down to hunt for those men who killed our parents.” “We could kill as many people as we do before and no one would come for us because our clan is the best in this country.” Travis tested him out. “I told you I don’t want to!” Noah pushed his brother against the wall. “Imagine how I have the urge to rip their heads apart and kill them all.” Noah said. “You are no longer that ruthless man, are you?” “I am happy I came back. I would change you into the strong powerful man that you once used to be.” Travis said. Noah angrily picked the bottle if wine and threw it across Travis’s head. It started to bleed. Noah didn’t end there, he pushed his brother against the wall and began to punch his face several times. Travis kicked his brother on his bottom and pushed him away. Noah stood up from the ground. “What is wrong with you, Travis. I told you I am no longer that guy. I do not want to kill people anymore. I have changed into something better and pushed all my focus on the company. You should do that too.” He continued. “You coming back to this city is a no for me. You kill people and I don’t want the police to come here everyday to search for you. You should go back to where you came from.” “But I am staying.” Travis said. “No.... No.” Noah shook his head. “I won’t allow you stay. You can not live in this place, Travis.” “We have been killing the wrong people for years now, thinking we have finally gotten revenge. But we have been killing innocent people. I don’t want this life for you, Travis.” Noah said, shaking his head sadly. “We made an oath never to allow any woman make us warm again, but you broke that promise. What do you think about that girl? She should probably be my next target.” Travis chuckled. “I’d like to see the cold side of you and not this weak pathetic side.” “Don’t go near her.” Noah warned. “Or what?” He picked a black comb on the bed stand. When he flicked it opened, the hair comb turned into a small knife. “I’d shred your hearts into bits, Travis. Just dare me.” Noah warned, staring at his brother coldly. Travis remained calm for some time before walking closer. All of a sudden, he pushed the small knife into Noah’s stomach and he fell on the ground. “I like this side. I guess I would have to trigger this part of you to see it everyday.” Travis chuckled before walking out of the room leaving his brother in the pool of his own blood.
