Sylvia's POV
I had just stepped out of the shower when I saw him.
Caesar stood in the center of the guest suite, his powerful frame silhouetted against the soft lighting.
My heart skipped a beat—partly from surprise, partly from something else I didn't want to examine too closely.
My fingers instinctively clutched the edge of my robe, yanking it tighter across my chest like it could shield me from the mess of emotions boiling just under my skin.
Water dripped from my hair, slipping down my back in slow, cold trails, making me shiver—but not from the temperature.
"Get out. I need to sleep," I said, keeping my voice deliberately flat, devoid of emotion.
Caesar raised an eyebrow, realization dawning in those penetrating gray eyes.
My wolf stirred uneasily inside me, conflicted between wanting to approach him and wanting to maintain distance.
