Chapter 2187

Louise, however, showed her disdain. "Our daughter isn't even here yet, and you're already thinking about marrying her off. Don't you think that's a bit too soon?" She continued, "She's my daughter, and it won't be an issue if she chooses not to get married. If she wants to, she can even marry a mortal man. "When that happens, I'll make sure she'll have the best wedding in the world…" In the illusion, Louise's expression was one that Thalia had never seen before—gentle, soft, and filled with a tenderness she hadn't known her mother to have. As she spoke, it was as if she sensed something, and in an instant, her eyes flashed with a supernatural light, her gaze suddenly sharp as she looked in Thalia's direction. The illusion was recorded through Shannon's perspective, so it felt like Louise was looking directly at Thalia. It was clear that Louise had sensed Shannon's soul fluctuation and reacted instinctively. As she made her move, the illusion began to fade. The memory ended there. Shannon and Thalia returned to the real world, and the room remained as it was, with only the two of them inside. Shannon then shared with Thalia some of the fragmented memories she had caught during their time in the space-time chaos. With the earlier images as a reference, Thalia could almost picture the process of how Louise and Edmund had met and fallen in love. From the initial haze to the later disbelief, Thalia couldn't help but wonder, "Was Mother really like that?" However, Shannon didn't know why Edmund had died in the chaos of war, or where Louise, who should have been by his side, had gone. She believed perhaps that was one of Thalia's unresolved issues. She placed the fox fur, which contained the memory fragments, into Thalia's hand and softly said, "I don't know much about Grandmother, but if you have any questions, you should ask her." Whether that person was Louise or Reuben, neither seemed to be the cold, indifferent figures Shannon had once seen. Shannon didn't mind her relationship with the Wynthorpe clan, but she didn't want Thalia to have unresolved feelings toward her mother, just like she had felt back then. When there were doubts, a face-to-face confrontation was the fastest way to get an answer. Thalia lowered her gaze, and after a long pause, she sighed. "Did you think I had never asked?" Her assumption of being unloved didn't start from the beginning. It was just that Louise refused to face her questions head-on. Like today, Thalia had poured her heart out, demanding answers, yet she never received a single response. What could she do despite her overflowing resentment? She couldn't even win in a fight against her… Shannon pondered for some time. When a thought struck her, she inched closer to Thalia and whispered a suggestion into her ear. Thalia's eyes widened in surprise, clearly shocked. "We can do that? Won't she beat me to death if we do?" Shannon remained solemn. "No. You're her daughter, and she'd never hurt you over a matter like this." Thalia was slowly convinced. "Then, will she target you if she finds out it was your idea?" Shannon shook her head, confident. "I'm the beacon of hope for the entire clan. She'd take out those clan leaders before even thinking about touching me." Thalia was immediately reassured—excited, even, at the thought of flying back to Jamborough and returning to Wynthorpe Manor. Then, a sudden series of door knocks dismissed her idea. Adam's steady, deliberately composed voice rang out with practiced seriousness. "Uh… Shannon? It's getting late. Maybe let your mom hang out with me for a bit now, yeah?"
