Leona's POV
I glanced toward Room 705. Far off, I could just make out Elara and the others. They were waiting for the moment I stopped breathing.
A heavy iron door rumbled open across from me. A huge shadow emerged, and a wave of heat hit me, smelling of blood, sweat, and wild beasts. I fought the nausea rising in my chest and looked up.
He was a man nearly twice my height. He had a bare torso of tightly coiled muscles, radiating sheer strength. Thick iron chains encircled his arms and neck, striking the floor with a dull, heavy clang as he moved.
I had heard that powerful gladiators, who shifted into wolf form often, were prone to losing control. Suppression potions were no guarantee, so those custom iron chains were both a restraint and a symbol of strength.
The floor trembled under each of his steps. His murky yellow-brown eyes roamed over me, dripping with contempt and disdain.
