Elsie ditched Troy Mitchell at the last minute, so to make up for it, she promised to cover his coffee for the next week.
She hopped out of the car in front of the villa, jogged up the steps, and instinctively pressed her fingerprint on the scanner. The door clicked open before she remembered—this place wasn’t hers anymore, it had been sold to William.
Yeah… she probably looked a little too comfortable barging in like that.
She walked into the living room, and sure enough, William had already turned to look at her.
Would it be totally dumb to close the door and knock all over again?
Forget it. She just went with it and stepped inside. Glancing around and not seeing the calico cat, the first thing out of her mouth was, “Where’s the cat?”
William raised a brow, clearly not impressed. “Don’t you think maybe you should say hi first?”
“Well, you’re standing right there—not exactly looking half-dead,” she said without a hint of politeness. “How’s the cat?”
