The dungeon air clung to my skin, rosemary and something bitter underneath. Wolfsbane, maybe. The pale lights flickered as we descended, throwing jagged shadows against the stone walls.
Marcus walked beside me, his hand resting on the hilt of his dagger.
"She won't talk easily," he muttered.
I didn't answer.
Coco sat slumped in the corner of her cell, her once-vibrant curls now tangled and dull. Her wrists were raw from the iron cuffs, her skin pale as parchment. But it was her eyes that stopped me— empty. Hollow. Nothing like the sharp, cunning witch who'd haunted our lives for months.
She didn't even look up as we approached.
"Alpha." Her voice was a broken whisper.
I didn't hesitate. In two strides, I was at her side, my hand closing around her throat. Her pulse fluttered wildly beneath my fingers.
"What did you do to Lilac?" My voice was low, deadly calm.
Coco's breath hitched. "Please... help me..."
