Chapter 2 The Emotionally Unhealthy Boss

Three years flew by in the blink of an eye. It was currently nighttime in Atlanta. At the entrance of Harbor Hotel, dazzling and spectacular luxury cars were gathered in abundance. A group of reporters armed with various cameras blocked the entryway. Tonight, Pinnacle Inc. was hosting a reception here, with all the business tycoons in Atlanta as attendees. Having caught wind of the event, the reporters had come here to stake out and get the latest scoop for their next big story. At approximately 8 p.m., a trendy Maybach drove over. "Mr. Quinn! Mr. Quinn from Pinnacle Inc. is here!" The reporters immediately rushed forward with their cameras and microphones raised. Zachary Quinn stepped out of the automobile in a white suit, wearing a playful and irreverent smile on his face. On the other side of the car, the supermodel, Luisa, emerged in a stunning off-the-shoulder evening gown. Zachary stretched out his arm for Luisa to hold and faced the media's cameras confidently. In the meantime, Selena was sitting in the passenger seat, holding a briefcase in her hands as her gaze passed through the car window to the couple. I can't believe it. He even brings along an assistant like me when attending a party just to torture me. Is Zachary emotionally unhealthy or what? While she grumbled inwardly, the driver next to her reminded, "Ms. Yates, please get out of the car! Mr. Quinn will be unhappy if you're late!" Sighing, she carried the briefcase and lowered her gaze while opening the car door. Right ahead, Zachary had already reached the hotel entrance while hand-in-hand with Luisa. Selena quickened her pace to catch up with them. Just as she arrived at the entryway, the reporters behind her exclaimed in surprise, "Christopher Morris! Christopher Morris is here too!" The name "Christopher Morris" made Selena turn her head reflexively. A luxurious and prestigious Aston Martin came to a steady halt before the hotel's main entrance, and a security guard approached to open the car door deferentially. Christopher, donning a sleek, black suit, exited the vehicle, looking as dashing as ever. His presence was always so imposing, no matter if it was three years ago or three years later. As Selena mused, the security guard opened the door on the other side of the car. Dressed in a fiery red evening gown, Josephine slowly stepped out of the car with a faint smile on her face. "Wow! What a perfect match they make!" "Absolutely! One is the beloved daughter of the general secretary, while the other is a business tycoon. They are so compatible in both talent and appearance!" The murmurs of the crowd rose and fell as Selena eyed the tall, slender couple with a hint of a sneer. An adulterous man and a homewrecker are truly a match made in heaven! Genuinely not wanting to see this disgusting couple, she turned around and caught up with Zachary at once. In the meantime, Zachary and Luisa had already entered the elevator. Seeing as the doors were about to close, Selena sprinted toward them at breakneck speed. Before the elevator doors could close, she reached out and pried them open without a second thought. Zachary sniggered when she came in. "Ms. Yates, you seem to enjoy scaring people, don't you?" "I'm sorry!" Selena apologized, her head hanging low. He snorted. "Stay closer next time. If you keep being so careless, I might just fire you!" "Yes, I got it!" Zachary couldn't find a reason to get mad when Selena was being this well-mannered. Hence, he simply glared at her briefly before letting her off the hook. The elevator stopped at the 18th floor, and he walked out with his arm around Luisa's waist. Selena followed speedily while clutching the briefcase. Upon reaching the entrance of the hall, Zachary looked back and instructed, "Wait for me in the lounge. Remember, be at my beck and call. If I can't locate you, your bonus for this month will be half-deducted!" "Yes, Mr. Quinn. I understand!" After watching Zachary and Luisa enter the hall, Selena turned around and headed straight for the lounge, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. Meanwhile, the elevator on the other side came to a stop with a ding. Christopher and Josephine exited and immediately spotted Selena pushing open the lounge door at the end of the hallway. Christopher stilled. It's her? No, she has been missing for three years. How could she possibly appear now? I must have seen wrongly! Notcing Christopher's eyes fixed intently on the far end of the hallway, Josephine followed his line of sight, only to see an empty area with nothing in sight. She hesitated before asking, "Christopher, what are you looking at?" "Nothing. Let's go!" Selena waited in the lounge for over an hour, her stomach growling with hunger. That twisted guy, Zachary Quinn, is enjoying fine wine and a sumptuous buffet with a beautiful woman in his arms, whereas I, his assistant, am left here starving. What a heartless capitalist he is! In the middle of her silent complaints, Zachary called. "Go to the hall and find something to eat on your own. Remember my words - do not leave, wander around, or see anything you shouldn't see! Get your ass back to the lounge and wait for me once you're done eating!" "Yes, Mr. Quinn!" She swung open the door and strode directly into the hall where glamorously dressed elites filled the room. She only took a gander around before heading straight for the buffet area. Upon grabbing a cup of juice and selecting a plate of food, Selena was ready to find a place to sit down and dig in. However, before she could find a spot, a voice sounded from behind her. "Bring me some food over here!"
