Chapter 3 Treating Her Like a Waitress

This bossy, somewhat familiar voice immediately caught Selena's attention. When she looked up, a woman in heavy makeup and dressed to the nines came into view. Isn't this Josephine's best friend, Tiana Gordon? Tiana Gordon also froze momentarily upon seeing Selena. She had naturally assumed Selena was a waitress as the latter was wearing a work uniform. Now that she realized it was indeed Selena, her eyes widened in shock. "It's you?" Selena paid the woman no mind as she held her plate of food, ready to walk past Tiana. After being stunned for a moment, Tiana rapidly snapped back to reality and blocked Selena's path again. "You're actually working as a waitress here? Haha! That's just hilarious!" "Is it really that funny?" Selena questioned stonily. "That goes without saying! Weren't you quite arrogant before, Selena? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Now, you've actually ended up as a waitress. Oh dear, life seriously has its ups and downs, huh? Well, hurry up and prepare some food for me!" Tiana had a gloating look on her face as if she had finally gotten her way. She had always disliked Selena, who was not only gorgeous but also blessed with a good life and behaved so uppishly. Now that Selena had been abandoned by Christopher and reduced to working as a waitress, there was no way Tiana would give up the opportunity to humiliate her. Selena couldn't stand the sight of Tiana and felt absolutely disgusted. She refused to engage in a petty argument with someone like the latter, for it would only lower her own intelligence. As such, she walked past the woman and left. Unfortunately, Tiana had no intention of letting Selena off easy. "Selena Yates, you dare disobey me? Believe it or not, I'll have you fired at any moment!" "Fire me? Who do you think you are, Ms. Gordon?" "How dare you speak to me this way!" Tiana seethed with rage. In the past, she didn't dare to do anything because Selena was Christopher's wife, and he treated her like a treasure. But now, things were different. Without Christopher, Selena was merely a lowly waitress, and destroying her would be no different than destroying an ant. "I'll tell the person in charge right away and have her fire you!" "Tiana, what happened?" A soft voice chimed in right on time. "Josephine, perfect timing! Look who we have here!" Tiana said mockingly, pointing at Selena. Selena looked calmly at Josephine as their eyes met. The latter was evidently taken aback. How could Selena be here? Despite her astoundment on the inside, her facial expression remained unchanged. Instead, she wore a smile and called out, "Selena, my dearest sister!" Selena peered at the woman frostily. "Miss, you've gotten the wrong person." "Selena, I know you still resent me, but it wasn't my fault. It's Christopher who took a fancy to me..." Albeit three years had passed, having the past brought up this way still gave Selena unbearable heartache. Not wanting to expose her scars for others to see, she turned around and left. Josephine's presence apparently boosted Tiana's courage. The latter swiftly stepped forward, grabbed Selena, and pushed the woman violently. The juice in Selena's hand immediately spilled all over her, with some splashed onto Tiana as well. Tiana yelped, "Aah! What's the matter with you?" As she said that, the smugness in her gaze was not missed by Selena. Tiana had clearly regarded Selena as a waitress and was trying to slander the latter to get her fired. Selena's eyes turned cold. If this were the former Selena, she would have definitely slapped the person across the face without hesitation. But now, she was no longer the Mrs. Morris who was once doted on by Christopher. Thus, she forced herself to suppress the fury in her heart and turned to leave. Seeing that Selena didn't fight back, Tiana and Josephine exchanged glances. All of a sudden, Tiana reached out and grabbed Selena's hair, pouring the red wine from the glass in her hands down the latter's neck. The glass of red wine was emptied on Selena, the chilly liquid soaking her clothes. Unsure if intentional or not, Tiana even pushed Selena to Josephine, whose hands shook and splashed a glass of wine right onto Selena's face. This caused Selena's eyes to sting in pain. She had originally intended to keep the peace and leave, but upon seeing Tiana's relentless and unyielding demeanor, wrath surged from within her heart. Tiana and Josephine were birds of a feather. Since they had treated her this way today, it seemed inevitable that things wouldn't end well. After all, Selena had a temper too. Tiana's tactics were exactly the same as Josephine's in the past. Looks like they're planning to continue slandering me. Since they both want me to be the villain no matter what, why should I still bother to be polite? In a fit of rage, she raised the plate in her hand and tipped it over Tiana's head ruthlessly. Tiana completely did not see this coming, for she assumed Selena had become cowardly. She screeched. Selena loved spicy food, so her plate was filled with hot and spicy dishes. The sauce streamed down Tiana's hair and soon seeped into her eyes, causing excruciating discomfort. Tiana screamed at the top of her lungs and instantly released Selena's hair. Selena couldn't care less about the woman's screams as she proceeded to slap Josephine across the face, leaving the latter wholly dumbfounded. Josephine, too, never imagined that Selena could be so pugnacious, and her face stung from the slap. The sauce had splattered everywhere from the plate Selena had overturned, causing some remnants to smear Josephine's expensive evening gown that was designed by a famous designer. This nearly broke Josephine. In pain and fury, Josephine threw caution to the wind and began to shout, "Someone! Help!"
