Connor let out a sharp "Ah!"
Seriously? Everyone probably just finished eating, and now they're dragged into work without even a breather?
But orders were orders-no one dared defy them.
Ten minutes later, everyone had shown up.
Broderick stood there, stone-faced, voice cool and direct: "Begin."
Only Connor glanced at Broderick, recalling his earlier words: "Get all remaining tasks done before three."
At that moment, it hit him-was Broderick in such a rush to finish because he wanted to dash home and dote on his wife?

She'd told Alfred that before-said it with such a serious look, nobody would've dared challenge her on it.

The room's window was open, and sheer white curtains embroidered with cranes fluttered gently in the breeze.
The whole setup added a soft energy to the space.
Leslie looked completely focused, utterly absorbed in every stroke.
