Leslie stared at that stretched-out line, fury bubbling up inside her.
She didn't even have to turn around to know who had walked in.
In her past life, Miles had gone head-to-head with his older brother Broderick time after time, all under the manipulation of Reginald and Lydia.
Eventually, he'd spiraled into drugs, thanks to Lydia's tempting, and it had worn Broderick down-completely. The memory of it made her heart ache.
No one understood better than Leslie how much Broderick cared about his younger brother.
And yet, thinking about how Miles had become such a burden in the end made her chest tight with pent-up frustration.
She turned to face him. The moment was slight-but Miles' stride wavered as he stepped in.
Damn, the girl was seriously stunning.
Those pretty, almond-shaped eyes were bright and burning with anger right now, but her whole face came alive with it.
Miles was momentarily dazed before puffing himself up again, the arrogance snapping back in place.
