Chapter 53

"Done showering?" Maverick got up and walked over, taking the hair towel from Heidi. "Why didn't you dry it more before coming out? It's still dripping." "I'm too lazy," Heidi admitted, sitting down at the vanity to apply her skincare. Maverick turned and stepped into the walk-in closet. He then came back out with a hair dryer in hand. "Dry it before you sleep, or you'll wake up with a headache tomorrow." Despite being a typical guy, Maverick had always been surprisingly attentive in the small, everyday ways. When they'd first gotten together, he used to blow-dry her hair often. Her hair had been even longer then, and it had taken forever to dry. Yet, he never complained. Sometimes, while drying it, he would lower his head and press a kiss to the back of her neck or the rim of her ear. Those were some of their most intimate moments, and in a way, they were more tender than when they made love. Over time, it happened less and less. Maverick got busy, and they talked less.
