From my father's memories, I learned about my past of being abandoned at an orphanage.
In her youth, Flora, also known as Tyra, was the most skilled doctor in the Blue Moon Pack.
She grew up with my father and regarded him as her destined partner.
However, my father only saw her as a sister and felt no romantic feelings toward her.
Especially after inheriting the position of Alpha, under the witness of the Moon Goddess, my father and mother became partners, and Tyra thus harbored hatred born of love.
"But in front of us, she never showed any hostility. Even after your mother became pregnant, she took care of your mother with utmost dedication, more so than I, her husband, so we never suspected her motives until the night your mother gave birth...
“I don't know why, but your mother's prenatal check-ups have always shown no abnormalities, yet she had a difficult labor that night.
“Flora personally delivered your mother, and after a night of labor, you were finally born, but your mother lost her life due to excessive blood loss.
“At the time, I was completely consumed by the grief of losing your mother, so I entrusted your care to Tyra.
“However, on the day of the funeral, I overheard a conversation between two young nurses, who mentioned that Flora had administered an unknown medication to your mother during her pregnancy, and it was that medication that caused the complications.
“But I grew up with Flora. I didn't want to wrong her just because of a couple of hearsay, so I sent someone to secretly investigate the matter. Unexpectedly, the news leaked out because of this. Flora, fearing my punishment, actually took you and fled ahead of schedule...”
Dad said this with a look of pain and regret on his face.
He apologized to me, saying that if he had noticed something was wrong earlier, perhaps the tragedy would not have happened.
But I couldn't blame him, because Dad had endured so much more.
Besides, as he said, he grew up with Flora—how could he have ever imagined she would do such a heinous thing?
However, after Flora fled, Dad acted quickly, issuing a warrant for her arrest to all the packs, hoping their Alphas would closely monitor her whereabouts.
Perhaps that's why Flora changed her name.
As for the changes in appearance, that was even easier. Sometimes just changing clothes or altering one’s hairstyle and makeup could make someone look completely different.
Though I don’t know why Tyra didn’t kill me after taking me away but instead abandoned me at the Red Moon pack’s orphanage, according to Beta Ezra’s investigation, she didn’t have an easy life there either.
To evade detection, she married a low-ranking warrior in the Red Moon Pack and lived an ordinary yet arduous life for several years, during which she gave birth to her daughter Cheryl.
When Cheryl was about five months old, her father was killed in a sudden pack conflict, and Tyra inadvertently saved the father of Alpha Howar, Old Alpha.
Old Alpha wanted to repay Tyra for saving his life, so he took Cheryl back to his home to be raised alongside Alpha Howar.
Tyra, meanwhile, rose to become the respected Doctor Tyra of the Red Moon Pack.
“But for some reason, aside from Old Alpha, no one else in the pack knew about Tyra and Cheryl's mother-daughter relationship. If I hadn't discovered Cheryl's photo in Tyra's study, I wouldn't have made the connection,” Beta Ezra frowned.
“You managed to sneak into Tyra's study without a sound?” I was amazed.
Beta Ezra modestly scratched his head, “It's all thanks to Alpha Jordan's guidance.”
Dad waved his hand, “No need for formalities. Your abilities will become evident to Zelda in time.”
Beta Ezra pursed his lips and said to me, “There's one more thing. The Rogue who attacked the lady, I caught one of them. According to his confession, that night, their original orders were only to kidnap the lady for one night, so you'd miss the next day's ceremony. But a woman approached them at the last minute and made a deal, telling them to make it real.”
“Was it Cheryl?” I asked without hesitation.
Beta Ezra frowned and shook his head.
"It was Tyra. The Rogue said that although she was wearing a veil at the time, her distinctive perfume gave her away.
"When Beta Lewis and Cheryl became partners, Tyra was also present. The Rogue, who was mingling with the crowd, accidentally caught her scent. This evidence alone is enough to expose the true nature of Tyra and her daughter!
Unfortunately, Alpha Howar acted too cautiously. I haven’t found any solid evidence yet about what he did that night.”
I froze on the sofa, thinking about Tyra’s fake sympathy toward me that day. I suddenly felt a wave of nausea.
Dad was furious. “This woman has done so much harm to us. I won’t let her off the hook!” I’ll send a message to the Red Moon Pack right now and expose her to everyone!”
As I saw Dad pull out his phone, I hurriedly stopped him.
“Dad, we can’t act impulsively. Tyra is an Elder of the Red Moon Pack. Unless we have absolute certainty we can take her down, we’ll struggle to achieve our desired outcome.”
“She’s just an Elder—what’s there to fear?” Dad didn’t understand my concerns.
I could only patiently explain to him:
“Cheryl holds a significant position in Alpha Howar’s heart. Alpha Howar has always followed her lead, and she is Tyra’s daughter. If anything happens to Tyra, Cheryl will definitely not stand idly by. At that point, there’s no guarantee she won’t persuade Alpha Howar to intervene to protect Tyra.
“You have nothing to fear from Tyra herself, but Tyra has Alpha Howar backing her. He is the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. If we act rashly, this matter could escalate into a conflict between the two packs.”
After hearing my words, Dad’s expression grew serious, but his tone still carried a hint of reluctance.
“Are we just supposed to let this go?”
He spoke casually, but his heart seemed unable to bear it. Suddenly, he gripped my hand and burst into tears.
“Zelda not only killed your mother but also caused our father-daughter separation for so many years. If it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t have endured those painful experiences. How can your father possibly let her off? Every time I think about what she did to our family, I want to tear her to pieces!”
“Dad, we won’t just let this go.”
I looked into his eyes, my gaze more determined than ever.
“Everyone who has harmed us will pay the price!”
So this matter must be carefully planned, waiting for the right opportunity to strike our enemies down in one blow.
