"Hello, Mr. Ingram. I'm Kylie and Charlotte's mother. My last is Chandler." Marcus was surprised. "Kylie and Charlotte are sisters?" "Yes." Lana nodded. Then, she smiled and asked, "Mr. Ingram, I heard that Kylie and you are friends. Is that true?" He frowned slightly. Kylie's identity as Murmury was confidential. Since Lana asked such a question, it meant she didn't know her daughter's real identity. Thinking of that, he nodded. "Yes." The smile on Lana's face grew wider. "In that case, all the more reason you should choose Charlotte. Lottie is truly an outstanding voice actress. Her individual skills are excellent and she—" Before she could finish, Marcus interrupted her, "Ms. Chandler! We've already decided on a more suitable candidate for Scarlett's voice." Lana's expression stiffened slightly as she looked at Marcus. "More suitable? Mr. Ingram, I'm afraid that's not possible! To voice this character, Lottie has been researching and working hard at home for a long time. I believe no one is more suitable than her." At this point, she paused, her tone suddenly taking on a deeper implication. "Or… has someone badmouthed Lotttie to you?" Marcus looked puzzled at her words. Before he could figure out what she meant, she continued, "Mr. Ingram, Kylie and Lottie don't exactly get along. After she found out that Lottie had such an opportunity, she might have held a grudge. You mustn't listen to only her side just because you're friends with Kylie." Now, Marcus fully understood, and he was utterly shocked. Lana thought he didn't choose Charlotte because Kylie badmouthed Charlotte to him. In her eyes, her own daughter was that kind of person. He couldn't help but feel bad for Kylie. His expression grew colder. "Ms. Chandler, Kylie has never badmouthed Charlotte." Upon saying that, he lowered his eyes in thought, then raised his hand and operated the computer. "I have an audio clip here. You can listen to it yourselves." Lana and Charlotte immediately perked up and listened carefully. As the audio played, their expressions gradually changed. When the clip ended, Marcus looked up at Lana. "This… is the voice actress we finalized for Scarlett." At this moment, Lana's face paled and flushed. She was stiff and awkward. Even if she believed in Charlotte, she no longer had the right to say that Charlotte was more suitable than the person in the recording. On the other hand, Charlotte looked at Marcus in disbelief. "I-Is that Murmury?" Marcus simply smiled and said nothing. Charlotte's eyes widened as she tried to process the news. Murmury was a legendary figure in the voice-acting industry. Back in university, the voice Murmury did for an animated movie stunned countless people. Later, she even voiced the female lead in two consecutive television dramas. Those two dramas became massive hits one after another, and the voice work for the female lead added a lot to the characters. It also made people in the voice-acting industry recognize Murmury's strength even more. This woman truly could be said to have debuted at the peak, but no one expected that she wouldn't officially enter the industry afterward. Even so, her fame still remained strong. Charlotte also really liked Murmury, though she never expected that the production team of the "Flower & Mist" had actually gotten hold of Murmury. That meant "Flower & Mist" was Murmury's return project. That kind of buzz was overwhelming. Lana couldn't really hold on to her dignity, so she blinked and commented stiffly, "T-This isn't even that good. She's just a little better than Lottie." Marcus stood up from his chair and directed his gaze at Charlotte, his eyes carrying a trace of contempt. "Ms. Murphy, you weren't selected because you're not good enough." He paused briefly before letting out a light scoff. "In the future, learn to look at your own shortcomings instead of casually slandering others." Charlotte instantly froze. However, Lana looked furious. "You—" Before she could finish, Marcus interrupted coldly, "I have other things to do. Please leave." "Let's go, Mom." Charlotte immediately grabbed Lana's hand and pulled her out of the office. … As soon as they exited the office, tears began to fall from Charlotte's eyes, drop after drop. Her face was full of grievance. "Mom, I-I didn't really mean to accuse Kylie. I… just heard from a friend that she had gone to meet Mr. Ingram. I…" While helping Charlotte wipe her tears, Lana comforted her, "Shh, don't cry. I know how you are. I believe you." Sniffling, Charlotte said, "I feel so guilty for wrongly accusing Kylie. I have to call her and apologize." … When Charlotte called, Kylie was on her way to the courthouse. "Kylie." Hearing Charlotte's tearful tone, Kylie couldn't help but frown. "Get straight to the point," she uttered in an unfriendly tone. She had no time to play along with Charlotte's act. Sniffling, Charlotte choked up. "Mom and I went to see Mr. Ingram today. We just wanted to see if there was still a chance for me. After listening to Mr. Ingram's explanation, we realized that we have wronged you. I'm sorry, Kylie. Please forgive us. We really didn't mean it." At Charlotte's words, Kylie let out a cold laugh and said indifferently, "If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up." She didn't need their apology. Kylie was just about to hang up when a sharp female voice suddenly came through the receiver. "Don't you dare hang up! Kylie, didn't you hear Lottie apologizing to you? Why didn't you respond to that? "Lottie realized she had wronged you. She felt so guilty that she cried and insisted on calling you to apologize and ask for your forgiveness. Now, look at your attitude! Yes, it was wrong of us to accuse you. "But we're family. A little friction is normal. The matter is over now, and you still won't let it go. What, do you want to keep pressing the issue?"
