Elena’s POV
The moment Sara appeared at the end of the hallway, I felt it in my bones.
That sharp, crawling feeling you get right before something bad happens. She was moving fast, heels clicking, face twisted into what looked like concern. Too neat. Too practiced. My hands clenched at my sides before my brain even caught up.
“You don’t get to look worried,” I said hoarsely. “Not after what you did.”
She stopped short. “Excuse me?”
My heart was pounding, but my voice didn’t shake. “Someone messed with my car. Someone wanted me dead. And you walk in here acting surprised?”
Her expression snapped from fake concern to pure anger. “Unbelievable. You accuse me the second you see me? Elena, you’re obsessed.”
“Then tell me where you were tonight,” I shot back. Her eyes flashed. “I don’t answer interrogations.”
“If you’re innocent, it shouldn’t be hard.”
She laughed sharply and turned to Eric Thompson. “Is this really happening? You’re letting her question me like a criminal?”
