Elena’s POV
I was still holding my phone when I heard it; the soft click of the door unlocking. I frowned and turned toward the entrance. I hadn’t asked for anyone. The door opened slowly. Ken stepped inside. He was supposed to be guarding me from outside. Not here. Before I could speak, he reached back and shut the door behind him, turning the lock with calm precision. That was when I noticed the knife in his hand, held low but ready.mMy stomach dropped. Cold sweat slid down my back.
“Elena?” Bella’s voice came faintly from the phone. “Elena, what’s wrong? You went quiet.”
Ken lifted the knife slightly and nodded at the phone. “End the call.”
