Elena’s POV
The nurse closed the door softly behind her and leaned against it, listening. When she was sure the hallway was quiet, she pulled off her mask.
“You’re safe,” she whispered. “For now.”
My heart was still racing. “You said… Arthur sent you?”
She shook her head slightly and stepped closer. “Yes, Philip Arthur.”
The name hit me like a wave. My throat tightened. “Is he okay?”
She nodded and slipped something small into my palm—an earpiece, warm from her hand. “He’s been trying to reach you for days. This was the only way.” My fingers trembled as I put it on.
“Elena?” His voice came through, low and urgent. “Are you there?”
I sucked in a sharp breath. “Philip… oh my God.”
“I knew it,” he said quickly. “I knew you were alive. Are you hurt? Did he touch you?”
“I’m okay,” I lied. I'd been drugged. Locked in. But alive. My voice broke. “Philip, my grandmother…”
“I know,” he cut in gently. “May contacted me. Elena, I’m so sorry.”
