Chapter 79 The Succession Battle
Gideon smiled at Nancy's question. He stared straight at her. "So that's why you've been keeping your distance from me all this time?"
"More or less."
"You're so silly," he said softly and ruffled her hair. "Don't overthink it. To me, friends matter just as much."
"Friends?" Nancy thought, lowering her gaze. She was momentarily in a daze.
"Let's go home," Gideon said with a warm voice.
She offered a quiet hum in agreement. Watching the passing scenery through the car window, her mood gradually settled. Being friends with Gideon could only mean endless possibilities for the future.
There was no longer a need for her to overthink things.
When they reached home, they took the elevator together to the 15th floor. Gideon glanced at Nancy with a faint smile on his face. His eyes were so dark and bottomless that they seemed able to swallow a person whole.
"Goodnight, Nance."
"Goodnight…" Nancy watched him step out before the elevator doors slid shut before her.
