"Grandma treats me well. Wouldn't it be heartbreaking for her if I didn't compete?" Nancy stated matter of factly.
Andrew grinned. "That's true. If you win, it means our whole family wins, right?"
He tried to make it sound lighthearted, but Nancy didn't dignify him with a response. Instead, she turned toward the couch where Martha was already sitting.
She took a seat beside her. "Grandma."
"Nancy, is it still hot outside?" Martha casually asked.

The closeness between them made the others uncomfortable.
Raine clenched her jaw as resentment grew within her.
Regina's face darkened as well. Her own daughter was cozying up to Martha. Despite that, Nancy was only ever an ungrateful girl to her.
