In the past, Teresa used to feel that Cameron losing his temper was a huge deal, but she thought nothing of it now.
So what if he got angry?
The more furious he was, the calmer she felt.
"I didn't have my priorities straight before, but I do now," she said in reply to his previous question.
Then, as if she was afraid Cameron would overthink her answer, she added, "That's why I'm going back to take care of my family."
A streetlight outside the window cast an orange glow on Cameron's face.
He clutched his phone tightly, stewing with rage and looking like he'd swallowed something sour.
Teresa could tell from his breathing that he was absolutely fuming at the moment, but she didn't care.
She simply said, "If that's all, I'll be hanging up."
Cameron abruptly gritted his teeth and warned in a low voice, "Do you have any idea what you're saying, Teresa?"
She replied, "Of course I do."
With that, she hung up without giving him another chance to speak.
