Chapter 36 The Dinner Gathering
Jane's heart skipped a beat. A sense of foreboding settled over her.
Why did Evelyn always ruin her plans whenever she showed up?
She tried to suppress her jealousy before turning her head and whispering softly into Hugo's ear, "Let's pack up, Hugo. The exhibition is ending."
"Okay." Hugo withdrew his gaze.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Evelyn had stepped down from the podium. She exhaled in relief after hearing the enthusiastic feedback from the audience.
It had been too long since she'd been in the public eye.
Stepping up unexpectedly like this today had made her genuinely nervous.
Shane walked over to her side, smiling as he handed her a bottle of water. "You did well, Evelyn. That speech was so incredible. I was completely captivated."
"Thanks." Evelyn offered a modest smile. She unscrewed the cap and took a big gulp of water.
