Hugo's sudden approach startled Evelyn considerably. Everyone at the table turned to look at her, their expressions filled with surprise. Who would have thought Evelyn had this kind of connection? Shane sat on Evelyn's left while an unfamiliar man sat on her right. The man was wearing a black-and-white plaid shirt with thick-rimmed glasses. He looked every bit like a researcher. The man proved quite adept at reading the room. He stood hurriedly when he saw Hugo approaching. "Please take my seat, Mr. Grant." Hugo accepted the offer without hesitation. "Thanks," he said coolly. "You're welcome." Seeing that Hugo had genuinely intended to sit there, the man quickly picked up his wine glass and stood to switch seats. After settling back down, the man felt relieved that he had been smart enough to read the room and not offend such a big shot. Evelyn frowned when she saw Hugo actually sitting down beside her. Her face filled with displeasure. However, with so many people present, sh
