Chapter 3
Alyssa frowned, "I didn't."
Enzo took a few steps forward and carefully looked at her evasive expression, "You still say you didn't? You go out early and come back late every day. When you see me, you leave without even saying hello. Isn't this avoiding me?"
"Why? Just because I'm with Nadine?"
Alyssa shook her head quickly, "No! Mr. Slater, you can be with the person you like, and as someone younger, I am very happy for you. I sincerely wish you two will find your happily-ever-after. Rest assured, I have recognized the fact that you don't like me, so I won't like you anymore."
She calmly explained the established fact, but Enzo's face darkened, feeling these words were strangely annoying.
Alyssa doesn't like him, which is probably the most ridiculous thing he has ever heard.
"Confessing to me, I refused; harassing me all day, I refused; so now you change your tactics to attract my attention?"
Enzo said while observing her facial expression. After seeing the girl's obvious stunned expression, he was more certain of the truth.
He approached her step by step, and when he saw the box in Alyssa's arms, his tone became colder.
"You don't like me anymore, but you wrote so many love letters to me and secretly drew so many pictures of me. You've been clinging to me for so many years, and suddenly you say you don't like me anymore?"
"Alyssa, don't you think what you're saying is ridiculous?"
Alyssa silently watched the man in front of her.
How could she not know these words are ridiculous? After all, if you tell The Boy Who Cried Wolf too many times, no one will believe it.
But these ridiculous words are the truth.
"Mr. Slater, I did like you for a long time, but you will never like me, so I really gave up."
After saying that, Alyssa dumped everything in the box in front of Enzo.
Then, she tore up all the love letters and sketches inside one by one.
In the snowstorm of torn paper, she saw the man's face not only didn't show joy, but also became darker.
Just when Alyssa suspected she might have misunderstood, Enzo's cold voice suddenly fell on her ears.
"Pretend, keep pretending, Alyssa, remember, no matter what tricks you use, the person I like is only Nadine!"
After that day, Alyssa and Enzo never spoke again.
The former had nothing to say, and the latter just thought she was playing coy to reel me in and didn't want to deal with her.
This tense atmosphere continued until the Slater family's private soiree.
At such banquets in the past, Alyssa, who was always favored by the Slater parents, was always the focus of the banquet.
The Slatters would always surround her and ask about her well-being, and it was always Enzo who came out to rescue her.
Now the focus of the Slater family has shifted entirely to Nadine.
After all, she is the future mistress of the Slater family, and Alyssa is just an outsider.
They know who is more important.
In just one morning, Alyssa witnessed the importance the Slatters placed on Nadine.
The family's ancestral jade bracelet of the Slater family was put on Nadine's wrist by Mrs. Slater as soon as she entered the door.
And this jade bracelet, Alyssa had never even seen in her previous life.
The banquet began, and the Slatters directly discussed the wedding date of the two at the dinner table.
Finally, the banquet ended with the confirmation of the wedding date.
Just as Alyssa was about to go back with Enzo, Mrs. Slater suddenly stopped her and said she wanted to talk to her privately.
As soon as they entered the study, Mrs. Slater got straight to the point, "Liss, leave Enzo alone."
"You know that Enzo and Nadine are already together. What else can you do here except cause trouble for him and bring shame upon yourself?"
Mrs. Slater made no attempt to hide her dislike for Alyssa, and Alyssa felt a strange bitterness in her heart.
In the past, Mrs. Slater liked her very much, but this liking ended on the day she confessed to Enzo.
Everyone said she was ridiculous, and everyone scolded her for being despicable...
Alyssa tightly pinched her palm, "Rest assured, I will leave."
After saying that, she took out the immigration documents from her bag and handed them to Mrs. Slater.
"The other day I called my dad and told him I would live abroad with him. My dad said he found me a fiance, and I will stay far away from Mr. Slater and never bother him again."
After Mrs. Slater checked the immigration documents in Alyssa's hand repeatedly, her expression eased.
"You'd better keep your word."
It wasn't until Mrs. Slater left that Alyssa relaxed her tense nerves, put the documents back in her bag, and was about to leave.
But as soon as she stood up, she met Enzo's eyes.
"Who are you going to stay far away from?"
Alyssa's mind went blank instantly. She didn't know how much Enzo had heard, but she instinctively didn't want him to know that she was going abroad.
So she shook her head and said, "No one, you heard wrong."
After saying that, she didn't look at him anymore and turned sideways to leave, but Enzo's voice suddenly fell on her ears.
"I know you don't want to go abroad. After Nadine and I get married, you don't have to move out. Your father and I are good friends, and I can support you for the rest of your life."
As soon as these words came out, Alyssa's eyes widened instantly, and even Nadine, who came out to find Enzo, froze in place.
It wasn't until Nadine's resentful gaze fell on Alyssa that Alyssa realized what was happening and hurriedly left.
