Chapter 2 Big Fortune
Lillian took a cab home. She planned to tell her grandmother that she was married, but before she went to the hospital, she had to go back and cook for her grandmother.
As soon as she entered the apartment, she saw her mom, Sabrina Yorke, welcoming her happily.
"Lillian, I've found you a man today. He's 34 years old, nine years older than you, but he knows how to dote on others. His ex-wife died and left him with a son. After you marry him, you don't have to give birth to any children.
"The most important thing is that he is willing to offer 30 thousand dollars to me! I have promised him for you. You can put on a mask tonight and dress up for dinner tomorrow!"
Lillian curled up her hands by her side.
Ever since she was a child, her mother had always valued boys more than girls. Recently, her brother had a girlfriend, and her mother wanted to marry her off as soon as possible in exchange for money for her brother.
"Mom, I'm married." Lillian did not say anything and took out the Certificate of Marriage Registration from her bag.
Sabrina looked at her in disbelief, and her chest was about to explode with anger. "You money-losing bitch! I worked so hard to raise you, but you married someone else behind my back! Well, you've grown up, haven't you?"
As Sabrina spoke, she reached out and wanted to slap Lillian. Lillian hurried out of the house.
"Get out! Get lost! You are not welcome in this family!"
...
Timothy had been busy at the company until evening.
His cell phone rang. When he saw the caller ID, he pressed the answer button.
"Where's my granddaughter-in-law?"
In the first second, Erica asked about Lillian.
Timothy frowned. "I don't know."
"You don't know? You're married, but you don't know? Did you drive her away? Did you ask her to live with you?"
Erica knew her eldest grandson's temperament very well. As the heir of the richest family in Washington, Timothy had always been a workaholic.
She wanted to have a great-grandson for a long time, but he had never satisfied her.
Coincidentally, many years ago, when she was traveling, she accidentally made a good friend, and the ounce of them added each other on WhatsApp.
Through Lillian's Moments, Erica learned that she was also in Washington, and she was on a blind date recently!
Erica was extremely excited and wanted to matchmake her grandson and Lillian.
However, Timothy didn't listen.
Erica had no choice but to pretend to be in poor health to force him..
However, her words had different meaning in Erica's ears.
The first time Timothy saw Lillian, he felt that she was not simple. She had actually managed to convince his grandmother.
It seemed that this woman was complaining to his grandmother!
A touch of coldness appeared on Timothy's face, which made his impression of Lillian very bad.
"I don't want to live with her."
"Timothy, let me tell you! You must, immediately, immediately pick up my granddaughter-in-law, otherwise... otherwise..." Before Erica could finish her words, she began panting.
The anxious voice of the maid came from the other end of the line. Timothy said helplessly, "I understand, Grandma. I'll pick her up now."
Erica immediately returned to normal. "Hurry up!"
After hanging up the phone, Timothy wanted to call Lillian, but when he touched the dial button, he remembered that he did not save her phone number.
After hesitating for a moment, Timothy called Erica to inquire about it. Of course, Erica scolded him.
After receiving the phone number, Timothy called, but no one answered.
It was not his fault. He had already contacted her, but she didn't answer the phone herself.
Timothy worked until 11 p.m. before returning home.
When he drove on the road, he could hardly see anyone.
Suddenly, Timothy saw a familiar figure walking under the street lamp not far away.
He frowned.
It was her.
"Stop the car." Thinking of what Erica had said to him, Timothy said reluctantly to his assistant, who was sitting in the driver's seat.
After the Maybach stopped steadily, he got off and chased after Lillian.
His footsteps were much bigger than Lillian's, and he was also faster than her.
At this time, it was late autumn. When Lillian was driven out of the house, she was still wearing the clothes in the morning, which looked a little thin in the middle of the night.
She looked up at the sky. A bright full moon was shining.
"It's late. What are you doing here instead of going back?"
All of a sudden, a deep voice resounded in her ears. Only then did Lillian realize that there's someone beside her.
"Timothy, why are you here?" Lillian was a little surprised when she saw the man's face.
"I just got off work."
Lillian understood.
His profile said that he was working in a small group. It seemed that the group had very strict requirements so that he couldn't get off work until so late.
"Are you going home on foot?" Lillian looked around and saw a brown Maybach passing by.
Timothy's lips moved, and then he nodded to Lillian, "Yes."
He didn't know why this woman had approached his grandmother and become his wife, but he didn't intend to tell her anything about himself for the time being.
"I was busy today, so I forgot to tell you my address. I called you in the evening, but you didn't answer."
"I didn't hear it." Lillian took out her phone from her bag and realized that it was out of battery.
She smiled shyly at Timothy. "Sorry, my phone ran out of battery. I didn't notice."
