Kathleen glared at the message, feeling that Shawn really needed to be put in his place.
Why did he have to provoke her? Couldn't he just leave after finishing his meal?
She had already acted as if she hadn't noticed him, yet he insisted on making his presence known. Kathleen chose to ignore it.
Chelsey suppressed a giggle.
"He's coming over," she said.
Kathleen frowned.
"Hello," Shawn said to Chelsey, who nodded politely in response.
Shawn stood next to Kathleen, looking down at her, but Kathleen didn't even acknowledge him.
"I'll pick you up after work," Shawn said to her.
Kathleen pretended not to hear him. Shawn remained patient and gently tapped her shoulder.
"Is there something wrong?" Kathleen asked politely.
Sensing her likely frustration, Shawn reiterated, "I'll pick you up after work."
"There's no need," Kathleen replied. "Don't bother."
Trying to shift the conversation, Shawn said, "I'll cover the bill later."
