Chapter 96
When Kathleen returned to the office, the receptionist gave her a parcel. She took it to her desk and opened it. Upon seeing the contents, she remembered having ordered it. It was the pair of couple rings she'd purchased the day before.
Initially, she intended to take a photo and post it on Instagram to "compete" with Sarah, but now she realized it was immature. Since Shawn had lunch with Sarah, doing something like that would likely just make her look foolish to others. Sarah was probably already laughing at her behind her back.
She tossed the rings into her drawer and got back to work. Half an hour before the end of the workday, Shawn called. Kathleen didn't pick up.
Instead, he sent a message. "I'm waiting for you downstairs."
Kathleen felt utterly overwhelmed—just reading those words made her heart race wildly. With his striking looks and the thought of him speaking in that deep, smooth voice, it was impossible not to feel butterflies.
