Chapter 99
Kathleen was not usually one to speak so sharply, nor did she often get into verbal arguments with other women. She believed that as women, they should support each other rather than cause trouble. However, this time she couldn't stop herself.
Sarah glared at Kathleen, her eyes filled with anger, though she quickly suppressed it. "I'm not bothered by misunderstandings. All our friends know that Shawn and I have a straightforward relationship. Those who choose to misinterpret things, well, a dirty mind sees dirt everywhere."
Kathleen paused, her hand suspended as she was about to scatter fish food. Impressive indeed, she thought.
She tossed the remaining fish food into the pond, dusted her hands clean, and faced Sarah directly. Sarah met her gaze without wavering, and the two women stood silently, locked in a wordless confrontation.
Kathleen beamed and called out to Shawn in a sweet tone, "Darling, is Ms. Johnson suggesting I have a 'dirty mind?'"
