Chapter 100 – Funeral day
As planned, Rosalie and Gabriel come get me the following day. Thankfully, I currently have on the long black dress and matching shoes that my friend sent me early on.
There's already a flurry of activity at the cemetery chapel when we arrive. I exit the vehicle, arch my back, and partially enclose my face with the veil. My mother is standing there looking forward, her face filled with tears.
She comes running over to give me a big embrace. "My darling girl! I believed that you were content in this place." She says into my hair, "It's unbelievable that Alpha King Gerald treated you this way. You should come home with us, there is no reason for you to stay here any longer."
I regretfully smile. "Gerald handled me with consideration, Mom. I had nothing to be dissatisfied about. It's not a crime that he just doesn't love me. He simply doesn't care about the mate bond," I retort to her. "That doesn't mean he's a bad mate."
