Liora's POV
Adrian writhed on the floor, howling. His face had gone chalk white. Sweat beaded on his forehead and ran down his temples as he shuddered and rolled in agony.
His arm was bent at a grotesque angle. Just looking at it, I knew the bone had snapped.
"Damn it!" Kieran snarled.
He leaned down and spat, the glob landing on Adrian's face. "You worthless bastard!"
Then, he turned and walked toward me.
There were streaks of blood on the white dress shirt under his suit jacket, probably from when he kicked Adrian across the room.
Every step he took seemed to echo in my ears. My heart pounded hard, and I stayed frozen against the wall, unable to move.
"Let go of the glass," he said.
Only then did the pain in my palm really hit me. The shard I'd used to defend myself had already split my palm open, and blood kept spilling out.
