When Julia came out, she looked nothing like her old arrogant self. She was thinner, her cheeks hollow, and her face much paler. The dark circles under her eyes were heavy.
The moment she saw me, her eyes were filled with blatant hatred.
"You came to laugh at me?"
I sat across from her and shook my head. "No. I'm not that bored. I'm here to bring you good news, Julia."
She let out a mocking laugh. "You? Good news? I don't believe that."
"I'm ready to give you a letter of understanding, Julia. But I have one condition."
Julia looked surprised. A few seconds later, her expression turned guarded. "What condition?"
"I need more details about what you told me last time."
I stared at Julia, afraid I'd miss even a flicker of expression or a single word.
I thought she'd answer right away, or laugh at me for dreaming, but she just went silent.
My heart tightened. Had I guessed wrong? Did she actually know nothing?
