She didn't hear me at first.
No surprise there—the quad was a madhouse of students celebrating the end of finals, their voices creating this insane wall of noise.
I caught just a glimpse of her in the crowd, but something pushed me forward.
"Hey!" I shouted again, shoving my way through the sea of bodies until I finally reached her.
When I tapped her shoulder, she jumped like I'd shocked her.
She whipped around, eyes wild and searching, like she was expecting someone to attack her.
"Yes?" Her voice was barely there, thin as tissue paper.
I softened my face, trying to look non-threatening even though my stomach was doing backflips. "Hey... you remember me from the practice rooms, right?"
I kept my voice low. "Can we talk somewhere quieter? Won't take long."
