"Noah! What are you saying? He's injured too, can't you see?" I hadn't meant to shout, but my voice rose involuntarily.
Anger burned hotter than I expected, even overshadowing the pain beneath my bandages.
Keal sensed the tension between me and Noah and reassured me, "Calm down, Silvia."
Alpha Sherman remained motionless beside my bed, like a statue carved from marble.
He hadn't defended himself once—until I spoke up for him.
Now he raised his hand, gently cutting off my protest.
"It's okay, Silvia," his voice was hoarse but calm, despite the bandage wrapped around his head. "He has every right to be angry."
I frowned. "You nearly died too. If he wants to get angry and demand answers, he could at least wait until later."
I hadn't realized it then, but this was the first time I'd ever stood against Noah—the brother who had protected me since childhood.
Alpha Sherman just looked at Noah, his blue eyes unnaturally steady. "Your brother deserves to know the truth. "
