I sat on the edge of the couch, breathing shallowly, straightening my spine.
I tried to calm myself down.
I put my hands in a fist on my knees, and my fingernails were deeply embedded in the skin.
Then Alpha Enzo's voice cut through the fog like a blade
"You know," he said, casually leaning against the wall as if he owned the place, "I could introduce you to at least a dozen more suitable Alphas from prominent packs across the continent."
