　　Serena's POV. 　　I stared at Richard's hands, my mind reeling with the shocking revelation. 　　I struggled to comprehend why he would do such a thing. We'd never had any conflicts or issues. Why would he want to harm my mom? 　　Richard's voice snapped me back to reality. 　　"Serena!" He clicked his fingers in front of my face, and I slowly raised my head to meet his gaze. His eyes narrowed with concern. 　　"Is everything alright?" 　　He reached out to touch my face, but I flinched, my eyes fixed on his. 　　"What's wrong?" He turned to me, his eyes searching. 　　“Who?” I asked, my voice tinged with desperation. 　　“Like I said, a friend, if you knew the friend I would have just called the friend's name. What's wrong?
