"Have we met before?" I asked and Logan hesitated for a moment, his eyes narrowing slightly as if considering my words carefully. His weight shifted, while he stood with his hands stuffed into the pockets of his suit, and took a long, deliberate breath before answering me. "No," he said, his voice deep, steady, and full of something I couldn’t quite place. "We have not met before."
I felt a mix of relief and a sinking feeling in my stomach, unsure if that was a good or bad thing. Logan had been nothing but polite to me, Although he is distant at times, and there was something unsettling about his extremely careful behavior around me.
