Chapter 5
A familiar face emerged from behind the masked man.
There were still unhealed wounds on his face. Seeing Lester look over, he gave a hideous smile.
“Lester, long time no see. When you took action against my company back then, you never thought there would be today, did you ?”
Lester's expression darkened.
This man was Lester's former arch-rival.
Later, with my assistance, his company was naturally driven into bankruptcy.
Judging by his words, he blamed all his suffering on Lester. This wouldn't end peacefully today.
Lester's bodyguards shielded us firmly behind them.
The next instant, Letitia shoved me hard. I reflexively grabbed her hand.
In the blink of an eye, we both tumbled out of the protective circle.
The scarred man acted with lightning speed, grabbing both Letitia and me.
He laughed wildly: “Truly, God is on my side, Lester.I just heard clearly from behind. This woman must be your Ms. Turner, right? She is still pregnant with your child. This is your secretary who has been by your side for seven years. I've heard before that you really value her. ”
His face twisted as he stared at Lester.
“Back then, I begged you on my knees not to be so ruthless. But you still took over my family's company completely, leaving me with only a huge debt. Now that I don't want your money, I'm going to kill your heart. I want you to choose one of these two women. ”
He finished with a raucous laugh. Letitia screamed sharply, her eyes pleading with Lester.
"Lester, save me! It's all Lorraine's fault! She pushed me out there! Lester, you have to save me and the baby!"
Under Letitia's pleading gaze, Lester clenched his eyes shut.
Then he spoke: “I choose her.”
When Letitia saw who Lester was pointing at, she screamed again.
“Lester! You can't do this!”
My eyes widened, my heart pounding.
Before discovering those truths, I might have believed Lester would save me.
But after learning the facts, I’d been waiting for the inevitable abandonment.
I looked up, my heart skipping a beat involuntarily.
The scarred man chuckled. “Mr. Turner’s made his choice, eh? I’m a straightforward man—I’ll grant you one.”
With that, he shoved Letitia toward Lester.
He reached out to me excitedly, the scar on his face trembling with his grin.
“So this little secretary is the one you truly care about, huh? Poor Ms. Turner, abandoned by you. This time, I'll be the good guy and send your Ms. Turner back. As for the secretary... I'll gladly taste her.”
The scarred man yanked my hair hard, bursting into laughter.
I was forced to lift my head, only to be struck hard across the face the next instant.
A flicker of guilt crossed Lester's eyes, yet his hand swiftly shielded Letitia behind him.
My lip split from the blow. Seeing the look on Lester's face, I finally understood.
I forced a smile, my expression growing calm.
So it wasn't that Lester had chosen me in the moment of crisis.
Instead, he saw the scarred man's hatred for him and chose to make me Letitia's scapegoat.
I didn't look at Lester again, silently lowering my head.
Seeing me as limp as a dead fish, the scarred man slapped my face repeatedly.
Only when my face was red and swollen did he stop.
Then, he waved his hand, signaling his men to pin me down, his expression filled with cruelty.
“Little secretary, don't blame me. Blame your lover for being so ruthless. I don't want your life—I just want to taste his woman right in front of him.”
With that, he tore my clothes off with brutal force!
Lester's face contorted in agony as he screamed, “Stop! Stop it! I'll give you a hundred million! A billion!”
The more agony etched on Lester's face, the more excitement flashed across the scarred man's.
My clothes were completely ripped off, my pale skin exposed before them.
I struggled desperately, yet could only watch as the scarred man approached me with a lecherous grin.
Just as he was about to proceed further, a large group burst in from outside, subduing all of the scarred man's henchmen.
The scarred man resisted, but Lester threw himself at me regardless.
He trembled and draped his suit over me, then hugged me tightly.
“I'm sorry, Lorraine. I'm so sorry.”
I gazed into the distance with lifeless eyes, only wanting to leave forever .
Lester lifted me up, his face filled with anguish as he prepared to take me to the hospital.
Behind us, Letitia suddenly screamed.
“Lester!”
The next moment, Letitia collapsed heavily onto the floor, blood pooling beneath her.
Lester's grip snapped instantly. I crashed to the ground, my arm twisting violently, a sharp crack echoing from within.
“Lorraine, this is life-or-death. You can still move. I'll take Letitia to the hospital first. Someone will bring you back later.”
He didn't even have time to glance at me. After picking up Letitia, he hurriedly left with a word. I clutched my suit tightly, yet felt not a shred of warmth left in it.
