Marcus barely said anything when his phone rang. He answered and turned from us for a second. The room falls silent, and I want to talk to Drexon and ask him what had happened, but with a dead man who we know is the killer but can't catch, my problems seem insignificant in that moment.
"Thank you, officer; I will be in touch," Marcus said, and the words broke the spell I was in. I look up to him as he turns to us and then taps his phone into his empty hand.
"Just as we suspected," he said in a defeated tone.
"What happened?" I urge you to try to get the information from him.
"Well, Arthur was drunk and went driving, somehow fell into a ditch, broke his ribs from the impact and died," he explained.
"How can she be so cruel?" The words slip out of my mind because no matter how I think about it, it does not make sense. How could she so easily stage an accident and then go on living?
"The officers are ruling it as an accident and closing the case."
